FAQs

Below are some of our frequently asked questions. If you don't see your question, please don't hesitate to contact us.

When should I have my heating and cooling equipment serviced?

Your HVAC systems should be serviced before the start of each heating and cooling season.

When should I replace my HVAC air filters?

Your air filters should be replaced every one to three months depending on usage.

What is a ductless mini-split system?

It's an alternative to traditional heating and cooling like central air and it works similarly to central heating and cooling, except that it doesn’t require ductwork.

What is the best thermostat setting for summer?

We recommend keeping your thermostat set to 72 degrees (at the lowest) with the fan set to AUTO.

I’m having trouble maintaining an even temperature between the upstairs and downstairs of my home. What should I do?

Second floors tend to be warmer than lower floors because warm air rises. Try closing the vents, in the winter, closing the upper-floor vents can help force the air to the bottom floor; in the summer, closing the lower floor vents can help you achieve a cooler temperature upstairs.

How often do I need to add Freon to my air conditioner?

If your AC is running properly and leak-free, you should never have to refill it with Freon. Low refrigerant or a unit that does not blow cold, indicates you have a leak.

Is preventative maintenance really necessary?

Preventative maintenance not only allows you to keep your heating and AC system running at its best, it also gives your HVAC technician the opportunity to catch issues early on.

Which blower setting is better: On or Auto?

If you are prone to allergies or use an air purification system, the air quality may be better if the fan is constantly running, however, it is typically more energy efficient to use the Auto setting.
